CEITEC joins an elite group of European research institutions

3 February 2014

The Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) has become a member of the EU-LIFE consortium, made up of the thirteen best European research institutes in the life sciences. CEITEC is the only research organisation from the new member states of the EU to joint his group.

The members of EU-LIFE are currently implementing more than 60 significant projects coordinated within the EU and have between them 79 grants from the European Research Council (ERC), generally recognised as a sign of excellent research within the EU. The founding of EU-LIFE has been in preparation since the beginning of 2013 and officially the process was concluded with the signing of the founding agreement at the end of January 2014. CEITEC is thus one of the founders of EU-LIFE.

Participation in international scientific organisations like EU-LIFE is essential for research institutes from the perspective of using the possibility of Horizon 2020 European programmes, which support strategic partnerships in research.

EU-LIFE

Partners in EU-LIFE are renowned research centres that operate with similar principles of excellence, external reviews, independence, competitiveness, and internationality. EU-LIFE members are CRG (Spain), VIB (Belgium), the Institut Curie (France), the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Netherlands), the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (Germany), Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (Italy), Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (Portugal), the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Austria), Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (Finland), Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (Denmark), Babraham Institute (Great Britain), Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (Switzerland) and CEITEC.
