Mentoring Programme opened: Transfer of Expert Competencies (Mentoring)

CEITEC – Central European Institute of Technology is opening a second call for the mentoring programme “Transfer of expert competencies (mentoring)”. Applicants (mentees) supported in the programme will join the CEITEC Executive Director or the CEITEC Scientific Director and will be mentored in a specified area (see list of areas below).

The mentorship programme is aimed at supporting the transfer of know-how and expert competencies in the defined areas.


Time schedule:

  • Second call opening date: 21 October
  • Deadline for applications (end of call): 8 November 2013 12:00
  • Start of mentoring activities in the second round: 25 November 2013 (this is the first possible start date – the start of mentoring may be postponed, but can begin no later than January 2014)
  • Length of mentoring programme: 4 months (this period can be divided, e.g. 2 months + 2 months)

Requirements:

  • The mentee must be an employee of a CEITEC partner institution (Masaryk University, the Brno University of Technology, Mendel University in Brno, the Institute of Physics of Materials of AS CR, the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, or the Veterinary and Research Institute)
  • A university degree (bachelor or higher)
  • A willingness to learn new skills and competencies and to distribute them within CEITEC
  • A very high level of English (written and verbal)


Areas/positions open for mentoring:
(ED = Executive Director, SD = Scientific Director)

  • planning and reporting in research (SD/ED)
  • management of grant opportunities (SD/ED)
  • research group management (SD)
  • financial aspects of research centre management (ED)
  • HR management and development in a research centre (ED)
  • international marketing of a research centre (ED)
  • management and operation of a research infrastructure (with a focus on Core Facilities) (SD/ED)
  • science and technology scouting (ED)

Information for applicants:

  • The mentorship encompasses at least 200 working hours in a period covering a maximum of 4 months – the particular organization of mentoring is to be negotiated by the mentee and the mentor
  • The mentee will accompany the mentor (SD/ED) on both international and domestic business trips (conferences, workshops, visits of CEITEC strategic partners abroad)
  • The mentoring programme covers all related costs: travel expenses, accommodation, conference fees
  • Legal form of the mentoring: contract as stipulated by the Civil Code (§ 51); in the case of Masaryk University employees, no additional contracts will be signed
  • The mentee completes progress reports (to be approved by the mentor) and reports on business travels
  • Mentorship is not undertaken with a labour contract with CEITEC CMS
