Daniel Zicha has been working as senior researcher at CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic since 2016. His main interest is in developments of dry-mass profiling microscopy based on quantitative phase imaging for biomedical research and personalised treatment of cancer. He received his MSc from the Czech University of Technology, Prague with thesis on “Expert system for genetic diagnosis”. He then pursued a PhD project on “Artificial intelligence methods in tumour cell biology” at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Czech Academy of Sciences. His subsequent postdoctoral research post, focussing on chemotaxis [1] and development of interference microscopy [2], was held at Medical Research Council, Muscle and Cell Motility Unit, King's College, London, UK. Daniel Zicha was head of Light Microscopy at Imperial Cancer Research Fund/ Cancer Research UK London Research Institute/ the Francis Crick Institute, Lincoln's Inn Fields Laboratory for over 17 years. He has been involved in development of novel quantitative light microscopy techniques such as “Fluorescence Localisation After Photobleaching” [3] and has experience with metastasis research [4]. Daniel Zicha has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Microscopy since 2007.
