Central European Institute of Technology - Institute of Physics of Materials, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (CEITEC IPM) is an independent institute at Institute of Physics of Materials, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic which was established within the framework of the CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology. CEITEC includes the leading Brno universities and two research institutes who joined forces in order to establish a centre of scientific excellence. Head of the CEITEC IPM is doc. Ing. Luboš Náhlík, Ph.D.
CEITEC IPM is focused on the interdisciplinary field of materials science. The focus of its activity consists mainly in basic research of metallic materials. The department focuses on the physical nature of processes taking place in metallic materials during creep, fatigue and creep fatigue interaction and other types of mechanical loading and to research the structure and physical properties of selected materials. In both these areas of research is to clarify the relationship between the behavior and properties of materials and their structural characteristics and mikrostructures.
