Postdoc positions: The Role of RNA Modifications in Innate Immunity
PROJECT INFORMATION:
Three post-doctoral positions are available at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Brno, Czech Republic, in the group of Mary O‘Connell. This work is funded by the ERA Chair grant. The project focuses on how modification in RNA is used by the innate immune system to discriminate ‘self‘ from ‘non-self‘ (Mannion et al., Cell Reports. 2014; http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.celrep.2014.10.0).
The successful candidates will join a team of motivated researchers who are investigating the proteins and RNA involved in this novel innate immune pathway. We also want to elucidate and identify mutations in this pathway that result in autoimmune disorders. We use a variety of different models in our investigations; Drosophila, mice and stem cell culture.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should be highly motivated, self-driven and passionate about science with a solid publication record. A PhD degree in either molecular biology, immunology, mouse genetics, stem cells or Drosophila genetics is required. Applicant should have a strong background in standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Good communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in spoken and written English are required.
START DATE:
Expected start date is preferably spring/summer of 2015 or after upon agreement.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
We offer a competitive salary that will be based on the candidate`s qualifications and experience.
CEITEC is a newly established research centre of scientific excellence and its laboratories offer state-of-the-art equipment at the new campus of Masaryk University.
Please send application (including CV, short statement of research background/ interests and the contact information of at least three references) by email to Dr. Mary O’Connell at mary.oconnell@ceitec.muni.cz
