Brno si a step closer to building a first-class centre of science

The project application for building a first-class research centre CEITEC has successfully passed the assessment of formality and the check of acceptability. It has progressed onto the next phase. During February the Ministry of Education will start the assessment of expertise. The first results will be available in April.

The project application, consisting of more than three thousand pages, was submitted to the Ministry of Education on 13th November of last year. Within the application, the project team has applied for 6.53 billion crowns for the Brno research. The management of the project have now received information about the presented application being formally correct.

The management of the project are intensively preparing for the next negotiation with the Ministry of Education. Within the next few months they will support the usability of the CEITEC research results in practice and the ability of scientists to ensure partial financing of future activities, for example from the industrial sector.

The project has been prepared very well and that is why we believe that it will be assessed positively. We are now preparing intensively for the negotiation with the European Committee,” said Tomáš Hruda, the Project Director.

The project team is in close contact with the JASPERS initiative which consists European Union consultants. Before the end of last year the project team presented to the initiative the first proposal of the study which it would like to submit to the European Committee this summer.

Leading experts have been working on the preparation of the project application for more than four years. “We can not visualize the alternative that the project would not pass,” adds Hruda.
