Core Facility video
The core facilities are logically laid out units (technological units) which are available to scientists from a range of fields. The aim is to provide scientists with infrastructure allowing for them to effectively carry out scientific projects and for research purposes. This concentration of first-rate equipment, with back up by supporting experts, allows the covering of a broad spectrum of services accessible in one place. Currently the core facilities are oriented on these areas:

Thanks to support from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations it was possible to install first-rate equipment which was both expensive to purchase and is frequently demanding to operate. For this reason the core facilities have been established on the idea of sharing and access to them is provided to scientists from the Czech Republic and abroad. Both academics and businesses have equal access to the laboratories on the basis of open and transparent competition.
The competitive advantage of the services offered within the core facilities is added value in the form of expert services. Not only are the CEITEC core facilities able to offer instrument time, but they can also propose means of realising entire projects and the follow-up support with processing and interpreting results. The aim of our core facilities experts is also to transfer their know-how, and so we organise training and workshops for both internal and external users, and round tables with representatives of industry, with the target of educating users and providing them with expertise and recent advances from their fields.
The core facilities are open to scientific teams, not just from CEITEC, but also to other domestic and foreign users. It is possible to reserve instrument time or to order a complete service including consultations and the know-how of scientists working in the core facilities.
Each core facility has a head responsible for the everyday running of the laboratory and who at the same time is a recognised expert in their field.
