The theme of this year's 2017 Scientific Night was mobility and everything in motion. CEITEC BUT this year, for the first time, its nearly 500 visitors, has offered to preview its laboratories and space with unique instrumentation. Part of the program was also the opportunity to try a laboratory snuffer or try to taste the nitrogen ice cream.
Recall the moments of the evening in the photo gallery and look forward to another year!
› moreThe Brno International Engineering Trade Fair 2017 is one of the most important industrial fairs in Central Europe. Even this year, from 9 to 13 October 2017, CEITEC BUT participates in the presentation of the Technical University. Visitors can visit the pavilion at the Brno Exhibition Hall inform about the services of CEITEC NANO and virtually enter our laboratories. The virtual tour also joined Deputy Prime Minister Pavel Bělobrádek on the first day of the fair.
› moreThank you for coming to CEITEC MU during the Researcher's Night 2017. We hope you enjoyed our program brought home a nice experience. You can also remind this event in our photo gallery.

CEITEC Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology (Belgium) today announced the kick-off of the PASSAGE research project, funded by EU’s research and innovation programme Horizon2020. This projects solidifies the long-standing collaboration between the two plant research centres and aims to further advance plant science in Europe. Through shared research projects new insights and technologies will be applied to address topical challenges facing agricultural production in a sustainable manner.
Markéta Tesarova is still in the Master's degree in Physical Engineering and at the BUT, but it is already gaining success in the scientific field. At the beginning of September in Varenna, Italy, she managed to succeed at the "International Workshop of Imaging" in the competition of more than 80 participants and 30 posters. "The poster presented the X-ray computed tomography method as a suitable tool for imaging biological samples in 3D with a focus on quantitative cellular analysis," said Tesarova, who was already working as a microscopy technician at CEITEC.
› moreJoint retreat of young scientists from CEITEC, Institut Curie and Institut Pasteur took place in Brno at September 7–10, 2017. Enjoy few photos from this great event, which brought together more than 100 young scientists.

› moreNucleotide Excision Repair (NER) is a versatile DNA repair pathway involved in the removal of diverse lesions from DNA, including those formed by UV light. DNA-damaging chemotherapy drugs are the cornerstones of treatment for many cancers. Unfortunately, the therapeutic benefits of DNA damage are often counteracted by increased NER activity and resistance to chemotherapy remains a major clinical hurdle.
› moreBRNO - The chance of getting a prestigious ERC grant from the European Research Council is only about 10 percent per year from around the world. New holder, Vojtech Adam, with a support of 1.3 million euros, will focus with his research team on the research of a protein called metallothionein, which has the ability to bind metals. He believes that this protein is one of the key factors in preventing the emergence of resistance to cancer treatment with metal-based medicines. Confirmation of this fact could contribute to the more effective treatment of cancer in the future.
› moreThe patient will come to the doctor in the future and drop a drop of blood on a special nanophotonic chip. If the patient has a so-called tumor marker in the blood that signals an early stage of cancer, the light spectrum changes immediately, so it is possible to see if the patient suffers from this disease. This may soon be the case with nanophotonics. This science discipline tries to influence the behavior of light through small nanostructures and finds use in optics, medicine, and electrical engineering.
